About The Team

Rootsy is brought to you by a team of simple living enthusiasts from across the United States. From living on a small suburban lot to living on several acres, we love to garden, grow and preserve herbs, raise animals, get crafty, forage for wild edibles, create art, and share our love for all things Rootsy.

With over 60 years of combined simple living/homesteading experience we want to be your guide to learning new skills and creating the life you truly want to live.

I strive for a self-sufficient and organic life while dealing with the difficulties Alaska brings to homesteading. We’re raising chickens and turkeys naturally and hoping to grow our little farm.

Amanda is part of Rootsy’s social media, marketing, and content teams. She helps to oversee the private Facebook group and was instrumental in the design of Rootsy’s logo. Amanda is also a Certified Master Food Preserver (Alaska) and the owner of Alaskan Social Media Manager.

I aim to encourage people to just start. It’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out and it’s okay if things don’t turn out the way they’re “supposed” to. The simple living journey is full of fun twists and turns but if you don’t start, you’ll never find them.

Angi is part of the content creation and communications teams. If you email Rootsy, Angi will be the one responding to you. She is also the owner of Creative Simple Living and the author of two food preserving books, The Ultimate Guide to Preserving Vegetables and Pressure Canning for Beginners and Beyond. Angi has been preserving food for over 25 years and continues her education with courses such as Purdue University’s Mastering Food Preservation Course.
