Hi Josephine, to get butter you have to use heavy whipping cream or cream from raw milk, not half and half.

Cream that is allowed to come up to room temperature will form into butter much sooner than cream that is used straight from the refrigerator.

A Kitchen Aid also works well to make butter if you don’t have a food processor.
