Yes, beans are beans and you can use this process with pinto and black beans. In order to add ham, you need to use a tested recipe that has beans an ham or a recipe based on a tested recipe, like our Bean and Ham Soup recipe.

Also, if to add ham chunks they would need to be canned at the longer quart time even though they are canned in pint jars?
